Thou Should Not Laugh At One’s Hustle.

If people really knew what a hustle can be. A real-life hustle on the streets; no job, no ‘connected relatives’, no cents for a meal but just you against the odds then they wouldn’t be laughing at this picture. Waking up to go out and hope lady luck shines on you that day. Living each day as it comes. Survival!

This photo was posted on Facebook where people found a lot of amusement in it & cracked all sorts of jokes about it. I don’t know whether it’s his fault to end up like this (hopefully not) but I think the people who laughed at this boy wherever they are, are living too lit a life, they don’t know what the hustle part of life really feels like. The dude doesn’t look like he was living a life on the beach, does he?

When you can’t even afford to find a building to get into to hide from the rain, can’t afford a car to board so that by the time it reaches your destination, it’s stopped raining nor do you have a relative or even a friend with an office where you can casually stroll in to shelter from the rain. You can’t just enter a Kampala restaurant & sit without ordering a soda because then, your transport money will be gone. Imagine walking home on mud-filled roads, cold bitten. That kind of situation where your last resort is to drop all your swag & prop yourself up a phone booth to shelter from the rain.

That is a real hustle life and people who found amusement in this picture, may God give them all they desire because I am not sure what they would do to their lives if tables turned.

The hustle is real out here in case y’all ain’t opened your eyes wide enough to see it you privileged homo sapiens. Such situations are things we don’t laugh about it. Periodt.

Day 8 of The Afrobloggers #Winterabc2021. STUPID YOUTHS INFLUENCING FOR A CLUELESS DICTATOR.

For a man who has ruled Uganda since 1986, he has pledged that he’s going to secure our future in this his (alleged last) term in office. 35 years on the throne that is supposed to be rotated around democratically.

Ugandans have tried over and again to rise up against him but because he has the military backing, he’s squashed their uprisings. It is really sad that there are people who have grown up under his regime and unfortunately some have died under the same. Some of which have been killed by the state machinery. The current secretary general of the NRM, Justine Kasule Lumumba is even quoted to have said in 2016 that “the state shall kill your children.” Imagine. To people who’re standing up for what is right. A demand for change. Justice.

Now, some of the things that hurt about the whole situation is that some of the people who one would expect to join the cause for change are the youths. Why? Because his policies have not favored their generation as much. Many of them are online entrepreneurs and then boom, we have internet taxes, internet censorship, high data costs. His government is full of people who have no idea of the 21st century problems so they bring the 19th century solutions to problems they know not. The ICT ministry is headed by people who hardly have an idea of how ICT runs. The newly appointed ICT minister last tweeted in 2016. imagine. If he’s to compete against his fellow east African counterparts then that means from Kenya, he’ll be against Joseph Wakaba who is the former Google Sub-Sahara Africa Lead, a holder of (B sc. (Hons)) in Economics and Communications Technology from the Massachusetts institute of technology, and Paula Ingabire of Rwanda who holds a masters of sciences in information and communications technology from the Massachusetts institute of technology. Ours is a physician known for HIV/AIDS management.

Now what hurts is that despite all the above nonsense, there are youths who signed up to support this government & influenced for it online. That means that if they didn’t pay OTT then they had to use VPN to push for it on Facebook. They’re influencing for a guy who recently declared that he’s going to employ only children of the rich because since they have grown up with unlimited access to money, they ‘re less likely to be corrupt. They have literary seen it all.

Now this goes to the influences, with hardly much money people in the creative arts industry have, (isn’t that where influencers also belong?), it means that this guy’s going to bypass you & employ only those from rich families. Sad for most of you because you’re clearly not in the rich families’ brackets. Hardly does any of you know anyone in the rich circles you’re influencing for.

They may even start asking for your bank account records as part of the resume to see if you’re fluking & then boom, you won’t get in. I am not sure if “I was your influencer” will get you on that civil service payroll.

Your people are going to get the rona & God forbid, die in hospitals that have not been facilitated by the government you’re pushing for… then you’ll come here & implore people to type rip on the pics you’ll put up of the deceased. Some of y’all even changed your social media & profile pictures to show love to a nigga who’s about the 1% in this wretched country. Y’all blind motherfuckers. You sold your souls to the devil who has nothing to do with them even.

After announcing the 42 lockdowns, amongst the services left open, he said construction has to continue (because their apartments & arcades gotta spring up) (probably from the new COVID donations) so that you can sub rent in them for your businesses & payback that influencer money as rent. Blind ass bitches.

Your country has crazy internet rates, blocked Facebook now people have to use VPN to get around & it’s affecting them bad & you’re using the same prohibitions to push for these murderers.

Y’all NRM influencers simply dumb.

Day Three of The Afrobloggers #Winterabc2021. A Dented Dream.

Every end of a year has people setting up goals and plans for what the next year should be and once the new year pulls up, things are set in motion. that was not any different with how I looked at 202o. However, life had other things on its bucket list, the damned COVID-19.

I have been writing for quite some time and admittedly, my writing has inspired many other people into either enjoy reading or joining the creative writing industry. Once in a while I would receive people asking for advice on how to write or express themselves through writing basing on how I made them feel with mine. I have inspired exs of mine into embracing writing and it was always
amusing. Dating a writer is bae. I even at one time called out people that I wanted to start a one month WhatsApp group where I could share free writing tips to those that wanted to embrace the arts and a few people turned up. The energy in there was good.

This made me set my eyes on 2020 as the year for me to hold my first creative writing workshop; Shadray’s Creative Writing Class. The Genesis. “Embracing The Art”.

Because I feel I am also still learning much more about writing, I wanted to host this free event for those that were still at the very beginning of the craft so that they get into it well knowing about their niche.
This was going to be a free attendance writers’ conference for people that are trying to discover their writing skills mainly focusing on helping ‘young’ writers with framing words from their mind to paper or any other format which usually is a computer.
Briefly, it was intended to make manifest the writing spirit of beginners so that they can be able to produce that which is in their mind through realizing & embracing some of the key factors that make one a writer such as; motivation,
identity & style through seeking to answer questions like;

 What motivates/ inspires one to write? (motivation)
 What kind of writer does one want to be? (identity)
 How does one’s writing want to be understood/ message delivery? (style)
But this dream has not died with last year and I am going to try embarking on it again. a creative out there needs a hand to help them express themselves. So help me God.

God’s Supply & Satan’s Bait (You rush you crush)

She picked the window seat, sat at her table & went through her social media. Up & down she scrolled. A video picked her mind so she inserted her earphones, pressed play & giggled at it. She scrolled on but then got stuck somewhere. A picture of someone she knew from her high school days was on the timeline. The girl in the picture had given birth. She remembered last year that this same girl had wed & in between the months, she had held a blue baby shower. It was a boy. They were beautiful pictures.  She looked at her watch & back to the pictures. She pressed love on the reaction & sent a “Wow, congrats” comment.

However, deep inside, her heart had sunk but in just about a few minutes, her man showed up & the date went on well. But for someone who knows their partner well, he noticed that something was amiss. Later in the night when the lights were out & they lay there listening to each other’s stories, she turned in his arms, faced him & told him about her former high school friend with the conclusive statement being the question, “When are you marrying me? Or maybe, when are you making me pregnant?”

The guy, an always calculative person, thought through a number of issues before giving the answer. He thought of their finances (most importantly), whether they would be enough to sustain the pregnancy & the baby that would be coming in, he thought of the jobs status they were holding & chances of growth. He for one was not the type who made most decisions basing on societal expectations or peer pressure but mainly basing on his capacity to sustain or have peace from what he has done. This was mainly coming from his growth point of view & so many others he had growing up seeing…. his background, friends’ mistakes… so basing on that, he told his girl that they should make plans for the next year. Hopefully, the tides of their lives would have turned for the better.

As the days of their lives went on, she felt like everything was dragging. She felt that she was growing old & some of her friends were having kids already. At the young age of 26, she felt she was aging to look any better in a wedding gown & all this pressure was piled on to the guy too because it made him look like he was failing not only the relationship but the girl too & comparisons are some of the biggest breaks to a relationship. It was a terrible moment.

And trust the devil in knowing when the times are bad. Some other goon came into their picture. He came promising all that the girl was wishing for at that time. (Remember Eve & the serpent?) A baby & a wedding & then one evening as they were seated having a couple moment, she dropped the bomb on him that she was moving on to something better & a few days later, the relationship was done & in spite of the red flags about where she was headed to, she had made up her mind to brave the storm flying blind & a few years down the road, their new relationship was what Trump calls a ‘shit hole’.

Many people tend to forget that desperation usually breeds impatience & impatience will breed the need to make sudden decisions & actions which behaviors will breed usually, irreversible consequences. This comes from the failure for one to differentiate between God’s supply & Satan’s bait. They tend to feel like everything is dragging. Like the relationship they’re in, the job, the business & through all that drama, Satan comes up with a quick fix that looks beautiful (Remember what the serpent said to Eve?) Something that looks like what you have been waiting for. And then you’ll jump for it, instead ending up in an even worse situation than you were in before.

Why does this usually happen? It’s because in such situations, desperation blindfolds many people from thinking through the things they’re getting into thus failing to use their minds to make logical, sound judgments.

They may be blinded by greed, jealousy, desperation itself, excitement among others. People also would try to use God to get where they want to get & once that is got then God is left there. Abandoned. But when you are satisfied in God in spite of your problem, He takes interest in your issues & makes them come to pass.

Day 11 August Rush Blogging Challenge. My Part 2 Of One’s Blog Post I Enjoyed.

The second last day of the August Rush Blogging Challenge 2020 is here & as such which usually help to bring us together, this one right here defines it. Dropping a part two of another’s piece I enjoyed, I chose Mending Us, an original piece by Florence Rwengabo & Rogers Wanambwa. https://wp.me/p9EMGa-3W

Here’s my part; Mending Us. Me to Them.

Me:

Oh yes you sure do can. I am talking about making it. If you’re willing to accept that which happened in the past and work on finding peace with it so that the future you’re both fiddling with to join can accept you the way you’re. I am talking about healing. Those broken pieces of a heart being mended. I can see she’s willing. Give her the chance to because love is about trusting. Don’t let the past distract you from the beauty there is about life. About love. The beauty of winning. Of finally being together with someone you love. With someone who loves you. Of two people who love themselves truly, the demons can wait. In fact they shouldn’t, give them no reason to.

Trust & love her & your demons will die because they know no love & want no love. Two broken hearts can find a perfect healing because on their own terms & time can they find the perfect balance. If at all they’re willing. I encourage you to.

Go love each other in peace. ❤
